Science Week STEM workshops with The Royal Navy

23rd & 24th June 2026

As part of Science Week, we were delighted to welcome back the Royal Navy Youth Engagement Team to deliver a series of exciting STEM workshops for all KS3 students.

The day began with an engaging leadership challenge, where students became part of a Royal Navy disaster relief team. Working together, they tackled a range of tasks, including crossing a minefield, building a stretcher to rescue casualties, and creating a communications mast with an antenna. Students thoroughly enjoyed the teamwork challenges, had lots of fun, and received high praise from the team for their enthusiasm and problem-solving skills.

Year 7 students also took part in a forces and rocket workshop, where they learned about the science behind flight before building and launching their own rockets. It was explosive fun!

The whole school also benefited from inspiring assemblies during the week, focusing on Women in the Royal Navy and Women in Engineering, providing valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities available in STEM fields.

A huge thank you to Andy and Karen from the Royal Navy, and Guy from the Royal Marines, for delivering such informative, inspiring and enjoyable experiences for our students.
